Bill was born on September 1, 1955 in Inglewood, CA to Corena Milam Wood. Bill was the oldest of 7 children. He grew up in the Lawndale area and graduated from Lawndale High School in 1974. At the age of 18 Bill met the love of his life Cheryl. They spent many years together raising 3 sons, Michael, Billy and Anthony. Bill and Cheryl eventually moved to the Escondido area. In 2008 Bill graduated from Palomar Community College with an Associates Degree as a Drug and Alcohol Counselor. During this time in college Bill was also on the Dean’s list for his Academic Achievements.
Bill enjoyed the Dallas Cowboys, Old Cars, various types of music especially Motown and Oldies. He loved his Family and spending quality time with them. There was nothing better than being PaPa to his Granddaughters. He was an active part of the Sober Community, well known for his friendship, willingness to help and make a difference in other’s lives. He was loved by many friends in the community for his compassion and understanding of life’s challenges. Bill had a sensitive heart, a big smile with a deep joyful laugh. He loved Jesus, attending church with his family and eating Sunday meals. It was the highlight of his week.
Preceded in death by his beloved Wife Cheryl Jackson, his Mother Corena Milam Wood, Sister Nelle, Sister Sharon and Brother Frankie. Bill is survived by his Son’s Michael, Billy and Daughter-In-Law Valerie, Anthony, Granddaughter’s Chloe and Audrey. In addition he is also survived by his Brothers Johnny, Donald, Rodney and Sister Lynn, Aunt Violet, many Nieces, Nephews, Cousins, and In-Laws all of whom he loved dearly.
Bill will be greatly missed by His Family and Friends. We are Grateful for the time God gave Bill on this Earth.
A private Family Viewing and Memorial will be held on Friday July 24, 2020.
