Luzviminda Mercado Obituary

LUZVIMINDA FLOR MERCADO
February 23, 1957 - August 31, 2020

Luzviminda “Lucy” Flor Mercado (63) passed away on August 31, 2020 surrounded by family after a brave seven year battle against multiple myeloma cancer.

Lucy was born on February 23, 1957 in Manila, Philippines to Pedro Flor and Felicidad Tejo. She graduated from FEATI University (Manila) with a degree in Economics and immigrated to the United States in 1986.

Lucy lived a life of selfless love, devotion and friendship. She always put others before herself, and treated everyone she knew as family. She was a mother, grandmother, sister, friend, anything to everyone. Lucy did not speak much of her struggles in life because she never wanted to take away happiness from others; seeing others happy was her happiness. She lived a simple material life, but the impact she had on family and friends was priceless. She will be greatly missed by all who were touched by her love and kindness.

Lucy is survived by five children (Aleja Sese Thorpe, Allen Sese, Aira Jane Sese, Ashlyn Mercado, Eddie Mercado), eight grandchildren (Percy “PJ” Caraig, Allan Shane Sese, Alexandra Sese, Allison Sese, Leland Thorpe, Caleigh Thorpe, Brayden Thorpe, Ryan Ryu Angel Torres), two brothers (Pedro Flor Jr., Alfredo Flor) and one sister (Evelyn Flor).

Funeral services will be September 8, 2020 at 10am at Our Lady of Mount Carmel in Rancho Penasquitos. Interment will follow at Dearborn Memorial Park in Poway.

In lieu of flowers please consider donating to the Multiple Myeloma Research Foundation (themmrf.org).
