Virginia Webster Wynn

Virginia Webster Wynn, age 85, born December 29, 1932 in Ames, Iowa to Elmo Reed and Marie Kindred Webster, passed away peacefully at home on Friday, March 16, 2018. She was lovingly cared for by her family, Elizabeth Hospice, and many gentle caregivers. Throughout her early life she lived in Iowa, New Mexico, Arizona, Utah, and Idaho as her father worked for the US Government Soil Conservation Service. She graduated in 1950 from Madison High School in Rexburg, Idaho, and then attended college in Logan Utah (now USU) where she met and married Val Dean Wynn on November 25, 1952 in the Logan LDS Temple. Val and Virginia lived in Logan, Utah, then the Air Force took them to Anchorage, Alaska for 2 years. After Val’s honorable discharge, they lived in Allied Gardens, CA, Lompoc, CA and finally settled in Escondido, CA where they have lived since 1968. She was an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, and along with Val, served an 18-month LDS mission to Seoul, Korea from 1994-1996. She was an inspiring teacher and presided and taught in numerous auxiliaries of the church, her favorite being early morning seminary. She was a devoted disciple of Jesus Christ, and trusted in His plan, which helped her to endure through the last 5 years of declining health. She enjoyed reading, music, dancing, travel, handiwork, shopping, See’s candies, Pepsi, and made the best lemon merengue pies in the world. She endured countless hours sitting on benches watching her children play sports or in musical endeavors, and liked watching sports on TV. She worked alongside Val as owners of Val D. Wynn Engineering, in Valley Center, CA, for many years. She enjoyed being with her family, which consists of Val, their 5 children, 20 grandchildren, and 17 great-grandchildren. She is survived by Val, her husband of 65 years, children, Barbara Burlington (Lynn) of Escondido, Gary Wynn of Playa del Rey, CA Jeff Wynn (Tracy) of Rexburg, Idaho, Janet Griffin of Escondido, and John Wynn (Karen) of Orem, Utah; two brothers, Bert Webster (Barbara) of Beavercreek, Ohio, and Robert Webster (Lexie) of Davis, CA. She considered her and her children’s friends as family and treated them as such. She is survived by hundreds of devoted Kindred, Wynn, and Webster family members. Service for Val’s “Ginny” will be held in Escondido, CA at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints at 1917 E. Washington Avenue on March 29th. Viewing will be held from 9-10 a.m., followed by the memorial service at 10:00 a.m. Burial will be at Miramar National Cemetery later that day.
