Mary G. Cunha

Mary passed peacefully from this life the evening of November 2, 2019 after a decade-long battle with Alzheimer’s disease.  She was surrounded and supported by her loving family and caregivers during the last days of her life.  Mary was born on December 10, 1947 in La Habra, California, and lived in Southern California most of her adult life.  On July 8, 1972, Mary married her husband Edward (Eddie) Cunha.  In 1990, she moved from Anaheim to Fresno, the birthplace of her husband.  In 2015, after raising her four children, Mary, and her husband Eddie, retired to Escondido, California, where she lived the remainder of her life. 

Mary is survived by her loving husband Eddie, her four children (and spouses): Monica (Robert) Hassis, Christina (Joseph) Orabona, Edward (Lorraine) Cunha and Richard (Pam) Cunha; and nine grandchildren: Marissa Hassis, Michael Hassis, Grace Orabona, Joey Orabona, Reese Cunha, Aniston Cunha, Brooklyn Cunha, Claire Cunha, and Felicity Cunha. Mary is also survived by her brother Frank Ortiz and sisters Estella Ortiz Robalino, Emma Motte, and Josie Cortez.  She was preceded in death by her brother Armando Lucero and her sister Gloria Ramos.

A memorial service will be held on Friday, November 15, 2019 at 10:30 am.  Location: St. Michael’s Catholic Church, 15546 Pomerado Road, Poway, California 92064. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Alzheimer’s Association, or any charitable organization focused on Alzheimer’s disease.
